delivery but all that really matters is that he is here and
he's healthy! It all started the morning of Sunday, Oct.
10th at 6:30 am when my water broke. It was clearly my
water breaking so I got up and went to the bathroom then
gently woke Chris up and said it was time to go to the hospital.
He got up and said, "Are you sure?"
Thankfully, Aunt Jojo had spent the night with us since we were
supposed to go to Paige's baby shower the next day which was
at Marsha's right down the street from our house. This way we
didn't have to wake Ella up or take her anywhere. So, we took
our time and got our things together and headed to the hospital.
Once we arrived at the hospital and got to the room we met our
first of 4 nurses that would take care of us during labor. Marlene
was her name and we really liked her and felt comfortable with her!
We felt confident that we would go through labor and delivery
with her and have our baby boy in the next couple hours.
So confident that we told her that we should be in and out by the time
her shift ended at 3pm and probably before the Texans game.
We thought for sure Parker would come quickly since labor with Ella
was 4 1/2 hours total from start to finish. Boy were we wrong...LOL
So, after 16 hours of contractions that were two minutes apart but
no more effacement or dialation than 60% and 3cm, we decided to
start a low level of oxytocin to get labor moving along.
According to the on call doctor and nurses and then Dr. McCloskey,
I had what was called a "4 bag."I had not only 1 bag of
water break but 3 or more. So around 16 hours, another bag of
water broke.
Then 20 hours came and went and I was exhausted from the contractions.
At that point we decided that I would go ahead and get the epidural
so that I could rest before having to push Parker out. So, I got the
epidural and hated how that made me feel but at least I was able to
rest for a couple hours or so. Dr. McCloskey came in at 8am and
examined me and broke my water for the 3rd time. This time it was
quite a bit more than the 2nd time and Dr. McCloskey said she could
feel the cord in the way of my cervix. This was what was preventing
him (Parker) from coming out and me dialating all along. After she said
that, there was a lot of blood and she said my placenta had ruptured.
She paged the nurses to get in there right away and got me to the
operation room within a couple minutes for an emergency C-section.
I was in shock but wasn't ever worried about Parker because I knew
his heart rate was strong through it all. Even Dr. McCloskey said he
was a tough little guy and stayed stable the entire time.
Chris had gone downstairs to get his charger for his phone so my
my mom called him and said to get up there asap so they could get
him dressed to go in the room with me. Within minutes they were
already cutting on me and Chris walked in. Once I saw his face, looking
like he'd seen a ghost or not, I knew everything would be ok. He rushed
to my side and ran his fingers through my hair told me everything
was going to be ok and that he loved me. I felt extremely nauseous but
once I heard Parker's little cry, I felt a strong sense of peace come over
me. They showed him to me and proceeded to get me back in order
to sew me up. Chris went over to Parker's side and video taped him
but kept checking on me as well.
So, Christopher Parker Miller was born at 8:37am and
weighed 6.69 lbs. and was 19 3/4" long and was the picture of
health. Praise the good Lord for that!
I went to recovery for about 1 1/2 hours and then got to go
to my room where I then got to finally hold my baby boy and
nurse him.
Get ready for a lot of pictures!!!
This was right when we arrived at the hospital Sunday morning around
7:45am or so. Oh and I should mention that the night before (Saturday
night) Grandma & Pawpaw came over and during the prayer before dinner
I said "And please Lord let my water break soon!" LOL
We were excited and ready for Parker to be here!
Grandma was there...excited for her 5th grandbaby to be here!
Granny too excited for her 3rd grandbaby to be here!
And me, excited, nervous, anxious, happy and all of the above...
I had practiced breathing exercises before and they actually helped during the contractions.
Yes, I know...looks bad but Chris was just rubbing my back.
After a couple football games, we were all kindof tired and wondering when Parker
would be here.
Our first picture with Parker...
We were in love at first sight!
Proud Daddy!
Please excuse the exhausted look here...LOL
Grandma Glenda came to visit soon after Parker was born.
I think Parker looks just like Ella but with boy features instead of girl.
Check out Ella's birth post to see the resemblance

Parker's pediatrician - Dr. Salem
Grandma & Pawpaw brought Ella up to meet her new baby brother the day after he
was born. She wore her "Big Sister" shirt but wasn't quite sure what was going on.
We got her a new snuggles since she was now the big sister.
Our baby nurse - Memusa. Chris just happened to know her because he taught
her daughter at Tipps and she was on his jump rope team too!
Aunt Nesie came to visit...
So did Aunt Pia...
Great Aunt Doris
Aunt Jojo
Grandma
Granny
Poppa
And I must mention that Pawpaw was taking care of Ella so he didn't get to come
up to the hospital until the second day and it was kindof hectic since he brought Ella
so I didn't remember to get a picture. :-(
